Do you prescribe semaglutide and tirzepatide?
Yes. We evaluate patients for GLP-1 receptor agonists including semaglutide, tirzepatide, liraglutide, and other agents. Whether we prescribe depends on your clinical picture, contraindications, and goals. We will never prescribe something we don't think is right for you.
Are the medications you prescribe FDA-approved?
Brand GLP-1 medications such as Wegovy and Zepbound are FDA-approved. We also prescribe compounded semaglutide and compounded tirzepatide where clinically appropriate for you, prepared for your individual prescription by state-licensed U.S. compounding pharmacies. Compounded medications are not approved or evaluated by the FDA for safety, effectiveness, or quality. We tell you clearly, before you start, exactly which medication you are receiving and which pharmacy it comes from.
Why would I choose compounded over brand?
Your provider discusses both options at your evaluation. Patients choose compounded GLP-1s for cost and availability reasons, and brand products where insurance, preference, or the clinical picture points that way. The choice is made with your provider, prescription in hand, never by a website.
Do you offer non-GLP-1 weight loss medications?
Yes. Naltrexone-bupropion (Contrave) and other options are available when clinically appropriate, and your provider will discuss the full range of choices, including any that require additional prescribing safeguards, at your evaluation. Some patients respond better to these, or use them alongside lifestyle interventions instead of injectables.
How much weight can I expect to lose?
We can't promise a number, and you should be wary of anyone who does. In clinical trials of the FDA-approved brand products, participants saw substantial reductions over 68-72 weeks, but individual results vary widely and trial results do not establish what compounded preparations will do. We focus on sustainable, meaningful progress rather than setting unrealistic expectations.
What are the risks and side effects of GLP-1 medications?
Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and constipation, especially during dose increases. Less common but serious risks include pancreatitis, gallbladder disease, and slowed stomach emptying, and these medications carry a boxed warning regarding thyroid C-cell tumors observed in rodent studies. They are not appropriate for everyone, including people with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma. We review your full risk picture before prescribing and monitor you throughout.
What is metabolic optimization?
It's the set of evidence-based interventions that improve how efficiently your body produces energy, burns fat, and regulates hormones. Resistance training to build metabolically active muscle, eating for metabolic flexibility, prioritizing sleep, and managing stress. These aren't extras. They're what make medication work and weight loss stick.
Do I need to come in person?
No. Everything is handled via telehealth. Lab orders are sent to a location near you and results are reviewed at a follow-up video visit.
What if GLP-1 isn't right for me?
We will tell you that clearly and work with you on alternatives. There are many effective approaches to medically supervised weight loss and we will find the right fit for your situation.
